Bengal: Abhishek Banerjee submits 6000-page document to ED

Kolkata, Nov 9 : All India Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Thursday said he has submitted a 6000-page document to the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is probing the money trail of the alleged teachers’ recruitment scam in West Bengal.

Official sources said the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha member and nephew of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, arrived at the ED office in the CGO Complex, Salt Lake, around 11 a.m. He left the federal agency’s office around 12-10 p.m. and

told reporters that he has assured the ED officials of his full cooperation in the probe whenever he was called.

Sources said the agency had asked Banerjee to furnish detailed information about his known sources of income after his name allegedly came in focus following the arrest of several TMC leaders.

“The ED sought some documents from me and I deposited those and assured the agency of my cooperation in the the probe,” Banerjee told reporters

Banerjee, the virtual number two in the Trinamool, was questioned by the CBI in the alleged recruitment scandal in May.The probe, ordered by the Calcutta High Court, is related to alleged irregularities in the teachers’ recruitment at the state government-sponsored schools across the state. The High Court is also monitoring the inquiry.ED had earlier quizzed Banerjee in the same case on September 13.Three TMC legislators, including former education minister Partha Chatterjee, have already been arrested in the case.
