Rahul slams govt over rising LPG price
New Delhi : Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday slammed government over rising price of cooking gas and said it has “forced people to sleep on a empty stomach”.
“People are sleeping on an empty stomach, and they are sleeping in the shadow of their friends. The nation is uniting against injustice,” Gandhi said in a tweet.
He also released the price chart of the domestic use of LPG Cylinder from January to July for four metro cities Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai.
On Wednesday, the government has hiked the price of the domestic cylinders by Rs 25, a second hike within 15 days.
Price of a subsidised 14.2 kg LPG cylinder will now be rupees 884.50 per cylinder in Delhi.
The price of 19-kilogram commercial cylinder was increased by 19 rupees per cylinder and will now cost 1,693 per cylinder.
Currently, price of LPG cylinder is highest in Kolkata at 911 rupees per cylinder. Followed by Chennai where a 14.2-kilogram cylinder costs 900.50 rupees.
This is the second price hike undertaken by the gas retailers within a month.
On August 18, the gas companies had hiked the price of LPG cylinders by 25 rupees per cylinder.
Earlier still, in July, the price of cooking gas was increased by 25.50 rupees, Thus, in the last two months, the price of LPG has gone up by 75 rupees.
