Maha face off: Osmani objects to inaugurate Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, division by Shinde

Chhatrapati Sambhaijnagar, Sep 16 : Petitioner against the renaming of Aurangabad as Chhatrapati Sambhaijnagar Mohammad Hisham Osmani has strongly objected to the inauguration of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar District, Division, and Taluka Naming Board at the Smart City office by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Dy CM Ajit Pawar during the special cabinet meeting on Saturday.

Osmani, talking to UNI Saturday morning, said he was shocked after finding the chief minister’s official schedule, in which it is mentioned that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is going to inaugurate the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar District, Division, and Taluka Naming Board at the Smart City office.

He said the case against renaming Aurangabad is still pending before the Bombay High Court, and the next date of hearing in this regard will take place on October 4.

In the High Court, the attorney general of the government, Saraf, made a submission that the government will not change the name of Aurangabad Division, District, or Taluka until all the process of deciding the objections and suggestions is completed and a final notification is issued by the government.

The advocate of the government told the court that no decision has been taken regarding the naming of divisions, districts, and talukas by the government up until now.

The city has been renamed Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar by a notification issued by the central government, which too is challenged by the petitioners in the Bombay High Court.

When the next hearing on the renaming of the city is on October 4 in the Bombay High Court, how is the Chief Minister going to inaugurate the boards? he further asked.

We strongly object to the inauguration of this board as the government is doing illegal work. If only those sitting in the highest and most responsible positions are breaking the law, what should we call it, Osmani said.

‘We will not tolerate that the government imposes its decisions on people without considering their opinions and objections because if they have power, they do not want to impose decisions,’ he added.
