Notably, Murmu was missing since the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) boat carrying four of his colleagues and two journalists overturned in the Mahanadi river while trying to rescue a stranded tusker from the middle of the riverbank.

Yesterday, an Orissa Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) boat, consisting of five to seven members, was sent into Mahanadi river to rescue a stranded tusker, but the boat overturned due to the heavy flow of water in Mahanadi.

As many as five rescue personnel along with two journalists were present in the boat while it overturned. The boat has almost reached near the trapped tusker when it was swept away due to the severe current in the river and overturned.

It is noteworthy that Odisha’s noted journalist Arindam Das died after drowning in this mishap after the ODRAF boat capsized when it had gone for an elephant rescue operation.

Mohas been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital. A probe has been initiated in the tragic boat mishap case.

As per reports, ADG (LO) RK Sharma is conducting enquiry into the ODRAF Boat mishap in Mahanadi. Sharma has visited the spot.

The probe will include how journalists boarded the ODRAF boat that resulted in the death of well-known journalist Arindam Das.

It is pertinent to mention that Arindam Das along with his cameraman Prabhat Sinha were in the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) boat that capsized at Mundali during the rescue operation of the elephant stuck at the spot.
