Mamata Directs Howrah ADM To Rush Odisha Where 6 People From Bengal Killed In Accident

Kolkata, May 25: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday while condoling the death
of 6 people from Bengal in a car accident in Odisha directed the district administration in Howrah to rush a team under disaster management secretary to coordinate for taking back the corpse and injured.

“Sad to know that six of our fellow citizens from WB have succumbed to their injuries, while some others are still struggling with the trauma of a grave road accident early hours today when they were moving in a hired bus in the Ganjam district of Odisha on their way to Vizag,” Banerjee said.

“Our administration is coordinating with Odisha officials for speedy post mortem of the dead, treatment for the injured, and their return. Rushing a high level team led by Principal Secretary, Disaster Management and MLA Udaynarayanpur to Odisha”.

A report said 6 travelers from Howrah were killed and 31 others wounded after their bus in
which they were travelling overturned in Odisha’s Kalinga Ghati last mid-night. The packed bus of over 60 passengers was on its way to Andhra Pradesh’s Vishakhapatnam.

At least 15 people were seriously wounded and 16 others have received minor injuries.

Five of the six deceased have been identified as Supriya Denre, Sanjeet Patra, Rima Denre, Mausumi Denr2, and Barnali Manna.

The bus hit an electric pole before overturning at Kalinga Ghati located 2500 feet above sea level.
