It seems like girl child is still unwanted in our society. An abandoned newborn girl rescued from bushes at Jharia Sahi village under Shikarpai Sadar Panchayat in Rayagada district on Thursday morning.
According to the sources, the matter came to the fore when some locals heard cries of the baby and searched the bush beside the road and discovered a newborn girl wrapped in old clothes lying there. He immediately informed others and the police about the incident.
On being informed, police reached the spot and admitted the infant to a nearby hospital. She is reported to be in stable condition.
The police have launched an investigation to find the infant’s relatives as no one has come forward to own her so far.
