Bhubaneswar : Union Minister for Education and skill Development Dharmendra Pradhan has requested the Union Labour Ministry for the creation of Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Sub Regional Office (SRO) at Jharsuguda and for setting up of 12 new dispensaries at different locations of the state.
In a letter to Union Minister for Labour and Employment Bhupender Yadav , Mr Pradhan said ESIC regional office is located at Bhubaneswar and is not easily accessible for the employers and beneficiaries from the western parts of the state.

Jharsuguda is considered as one of the most developed and urbanised areas in Odisha because of the concentration of a large number of small and large scale industries.
It is estimated that more than 30 major employers are functioning in and around Jharsuguda and adjoining Rourkela in Sundergarha district.
Mr Pradhan said though most other states have at least one or more number of Sub regional Office but Odisha has no such office at present.
He requested Mr Yadav to intervene personally and direct the officials of his ministry to consider the proposal for setting up of the Sub Regional office at Jharsuguda in the interest of the employer and ESIC beneficiaries.
In a separate letter, Mr Pradhan also sought the personal intervention of the Labour Minister for setting up of 12 new dispensaries at different locations of the state.
He said a proposal for setting up 12 new dispensaries at Talcher, Jaleswar, Nilagiri, Soro, Dhamra, Trisulia, Adampur, Jagatsinghpur, Nimapada, Bonai and Koira and shifting of a dispensary from Brajarajnagar to Belpahar was submitted by the state government to ESIC Corporation.
