In a shocking incident, a teacher couple has reportedly attempted suicide in Berhampur of Ganjam district in Odisha on Monday, said reliable reports.
The deceased was identified as Shailendri Mohanty. Her husband Jayasen Mohanty.
Both Nilendri and Jaysen worked as teachers. While Nilendri was a teacher at Kachkhandi High Primary School in Berhampur, Jaysen worked in a school outside the district.
It has been reported that the couple tried to commit suicide by drinking poison. They had been married for two years. The police investigation is underway as to why the husband and wife attempted suicide.
The police recovered the body of Jaysen and sent Jaysen’s body for post-mortem and launched an investigation.
The reason why the couple took the extreme step is yet to be ascertained.
