Doctors should strive for patient’s satisfaction: Mandaviya

New Delhi : The doctors should accomplish the goal of patient satisfaction, not just successful diagnosis and treatment–Safalta ke Sath Sarthakta, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Saturday.

Patient satisfaction should be the end goal of doctors, he added.

The minister was speaking at the 66th foundation day of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.

“What I have gathered during my multiple visits to the institute after becoming the health minister is that the doctors are more focused towards successful diagnosis and treatment of the patients arriving here. However, we should not just stop there. Holistic patient care and management should be the end goal. Patients should be satisfied with the diagnosis and treatment provided to them,” he advised.

The minister lauded the contribution by AIIMS New Delhi in the healthcare and said that the institute has emerged as a lighthouse for the health sector.

“Just like a lighthouse guides ships for directions, AIIMS guides the healthcare sector for the latest treatment and technologies. It’s indeed a lighthouse for the country’s health sector,” he added.

The minister also said that the doctors working here should develop a sentiment and that they are working for the nation.

“There are many ways to serve the nation and ensuring its right health is one such noble way. The healthy citizens will make a progressive India. A nation cannot achieve overall development if its citizens are not in their good health. So by ensuring the right health of the citizens by providing them the best treatment, the doctors are actually being patriotic,” Mandaviya added.
