Mumbai, Feb 27: It is expected that the ongoing political and legal battle between the two factions of Shiv Sena will be heard in the budget session of the Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha which started on Monday.
Earlier, opposition parties Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction) and Congress had boycotted the ‘Tea Party’ organized by the ruling party on Sunday.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde targeted the opposition over the boycott step and said that it is a good thing that those who have links with terrorist Dawood Ibrahim did not come.
Shinde’s warning was probably aimed at former state minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik, who has been in jail since his arrest last year in a money laundering case linked to the activities of Dawood Ibrahim and his associates. The budget session will begin with the first address of the newly-appointed Governor Ramesh Bais in the joint sitting.
Deputy Chief Minister and State Finance Minister Devendra Fadnavis will present the first budget of the Shinde-led government in the Vidhan Sabha on March 9. The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) will try to corner the Shinde-BJP government on issues of public interest during this month-long session.
MVA includes NCP, Congress and Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction).
