‘”Assault on democracy” Sharad Pawar on ban on BBC Documentary on Modi
Kolhapur, Jan 28 : Nationalist Congress party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar said the ban decision of the central government and state government on a documentary “The Modi question”, was an assault on democracy.
On a press conference which was held at Panchasheel hotel Saturday morning, Mr Pawar said a ban decision on documentary made by BBC media group, which targeting from last few days, was totally assault on democracy and said the peoples would note give their votes on religious issues.
The peoples supported Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo’ Yatra’, with participating in it at different points in the country but the central government tried to prove different image of Mr Gandhi which totally failed following getting massive support from ordinary people, Pawar said while replying to a question.
On discussion of proposed resignation of state governor Bhagatsing Koshiyari, Mr Pawar said it was good thing that Maharashtra state and its people were being released from such person, who is known for his many controversial statements on ‘Mahapurush’ like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and others and added that he did not know who will take his place as governor of the state.
Mr Pawar said it was indicated on a survey that Bhartiya Janata party (BJP) would not come power again in coming state assembly election and on this ground we are trying to unify all opposition parties but yet to make final decision on this issue as there were different issues in every state and should solve this while discussion on unity would began from Delhi about coordination between different opposition parties. While in a latest survey, Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) would get about 34 seats in coming Loksabha and with this survey peoples’ opinion was against ruling parties.
Mr Pawar refuted the statement of Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) leader Prakash Ambedkar that prime minister Narendra Modi was not misusing central investigating teams like Enforcement Directorate and CBI against opposition. Mr Pawar said it was true that Mr Modi was misusing central investigating system.
With expressing clear his stand on Aghadi between Shiv Sena(Thackeray) and VBA, Mr Pawar said we did not discuss with VBA so far and we as a MVA would face unitedly to coming elections and we were with Uddhav Thackeray.
