Odisha Honours Subhas Bose, Surendra Sai On Their Birth Anniversaries
Bhubaneswar: Odisha is honouring two of its most renowned sons, Veer Surendra Sai and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, on the occasion of their birth anniversaries on Monday. The 126th birth anniversary of Netaji is being celebrated as the Parakram Divas across India.
Netaji, who was born in Cuttack, was one of the most influential political thinkers and freedom fighters of India. He was a leader of the Indian National Congress who formed the Indian National Army to take on the British Empire. He was a great source of inspiration for the Indian masses and his slogan “Give me blood, I will give you freedom” is still remembered by many.
Sai, a legendary freedom fighter from Sambalpur, played a major role in India’s First War of Independence against the British in 1857. His spirit of resistance continues to inspire generations of Indians. He is revered as a symbol of patriotism and valour in Odisha.
Various programs are being held across the state to pay tribute to Netaji and Sai on this occasion. President Droupadi Murmi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also took to social media to express their admiration for the two freedom fighters.
