With the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023 Bhubaneswar –the Steel City is all decked up to roll out the red carpet for the quadrennial event.
Rourkela is one of the host cities of the mega hockey event in Odisha, along with Bhubaneswar.
The newly-built Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela will act as the second venue for the Hockey World Cup 2023.
The Stadium has a seating capacity of over 20,000 spectators and is one of the largest hockey stadiums in India.
The Birsa Munda Stadium will host India’s first match of the World Cup 2023 against Spain on January 13. Two days later, India will be up against England at the same venue.
Recently, the International Hockey Stadium hosted a three-match Test series between Korea Junior and India Junior to test the newly-laid astroturf on the pitch.
