From the Himalayan heights down into the deep sea rockbottom, man is not ready to spare any trace of biodiversity. Everthing goes awry and panicky as man-made activities wreck havoc.
It ought to be hard for a specie that occupies roughly 10% of the earth’s land to mess up 70% of the planet’s entire surface. Yet humans are well on the way to wrecking the oceans.
The oceans are the world’s largest ecosystem, home to 80% of the planet’s biodiversity, and account for more than 97% of its water. They produce nearly half the planet’s oxygen too. Lose the oceans and we lose everything. In such times dead sea plants washing onto the shores is quite common. However recently, a picture of a dead aloe vera plant lining a beach in South Africa has created havoc among internet users as they mistake it for ‘aliens’ emerging from the sea.
A 62-year-old man Jan Vorster from South Africa shared eerie pictures of dead aloe vera plants lining the beach. The viral images sparked panic among beachgoers as the viewers mistook the dead plants as aliens emerging from the sea.
The clicks were captured at sunrise and sunset to create a spooky effect. Vorster’s primary purpose in sharing the pics on Facebook was to raise awareness about the damage that has been done to the environment.
