Bhubaneswar: Geographical Indication (GI) tag for the silver filigree of Cuttack is still under consideration with the GI Registry in Chennai.
GI application for silver filigree (Chandi Tarakasi) was filed last year by Odisha State Co-operative Handicrafts Corporation Limited.
The consultative group of experts of Geographical Indications (GI) Registry, Chennai, is to meet the applicants next month.
Basing on recommendations of the consultative group after the meeting on December 6, examination reports will be issued.
After necessary compliances, the application will be accepted and published for public to file opposition. If no opposition is received within the stipulated period, the GI will be registered.
