Bhubaneswar: A two-day bandh is being observed in Paikmal under Padampur subdivision of Bargarh district over three-point charter of demands.
The demands include declaration of Paikmal Primary Health Centre (PHC) as an Area Hospital, to declare Paikmal as Notified Area Council (NAC), and to declare Padampur as a new district.
The agitators have warned to intensify the protest if their demands are not met. Many local organizations and union workers have joined the bandh.
It is worth noting that yesterday the committee met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik over the said demands. Patnaik has promised to declare Padmapur as district by December 31, 2023.
