Update Bihar: Nilam Devi of RJD wins from Mokama and Kusum Devi of BJP from Gopalganj
Patna, Nov 6 ; Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Neelam Devi won the by election from Mokama Assembly Constituency whereas BJP candidate Kusum Devi remained victorious from Gopalganj seat.
According to the state election office, the formal announcement of the election results was yet to be made.
According to the election office sources after the final round of counting RJD candidate, Neelam Devi was ahead of her arch-rival Sonam Devi of BJP in Mokama by image of 16420 votes.
However, in Gopalganj the fight was neck to neck between BJP and RJD where Kusum Devi of BJP defeated RJD candidate Mohan Prasad Gupta by a margin of 2183 votes.
With this RJD retained its seat in Mokama while BJP retained its seat in Gopalganj. During the 2020 Assembly Elections BJP candidate, Subhash Singh had one from Gopalganj whereas RJD candidate Anant Singh won the elections from Mokama Assembly Constituency.
Gopalganj’s seat fell vacant following the death of Subhash Singh whereas by-elections in Mokama were necessitated following the disqualification of Anant Singh due to his conviction in a case.
It may be recalled that Kusum Devi is the wife of late Subhash Singh and Neelam Devi is wife of heavyweight politician Anant Singh.
