Bhubnaeswar, Oct 31: Contraband Brown Sugar of over four kg seized by the STF of Odisha police was destroyed on Monday at a designated incinerator following all due procedure.
Till date the STF has destroyed 12 kg 815 gm brown sugar including Monday’s destruction in 10 cases and 16 Quintals of Ganja in four cases.
STF sources said it had approached the Orissa High Court with a prayer to resolve the issues on hindrances involved in disposing of the huge seized drugs.
The High Court had in January last passed a landmark judgment directing the Subordinate courts to dispose of the piling of contraband and issued a detailed SOP in this regard.
Accordingly on Monday as per the decision of the Drug Disposal Committee led by SP, STF, Bhubaneswar in presence of Scientific Officers of State Forensic Science laboratory and Member
of State Pollution Board the bulk quantity of contraband Brown Sugar were destroyed at a designated incinerator .
The seized drugs were first authenticated and certificated by the concerned court and handed over
to the Drug disposal committee for destruction.
