Bus-truck collision snuffs out 15 lives in MP
Rewa (MP), Oct 22: Fifteen male passengers died and more than 40 sustained injuries when a bus – carrying labourers returning to Uttar Pradesh from Hyderabad for Diwali – plowed into the rear of a truck during the intervening night on Sohagi hill in this district’s Sohagi Police Station limits, law-enforcement authorities said on Saturday.
All the victims were residents of Prayagraj area. A third vehicle was also involved in the accident. Fourteen individuals perished on the spot and one succumbed while being rushed to this divisional headquarters where those hurt were admitted to the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital. The deceased were being identified when reports last came in.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed grief over the loss of life and directed the district administration to ensure proper treatment of the injured. Mr Chouhan had a phone conversation with his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath.
“First aid was administered to those having minor injuries. Such persons were sent to Uttar Pradesh in another bus,” Mr Chouhan wrote in social media.
