Patna, Sep 24: CPI on Saturday made it clear thàt all Left parties may join the Nitish-led Grand Alliance government after October this year as discussion on the issue was going on the top level of all Left parties.
State Secretary of CPI Ram Naresh Pandey told UNI that his party was willing to join the Nitish cabinet and the Bihar unit had also decided in this connection and sent the proposal for approval by the central leadership of the party.
The central leadership of CPI had asked the state unit to coordinate with other left parties in Bihar
for evolving a common stand on the issue, he added.
Pandey said that the proposal to join the Nitish cabinet was also under serious consideration at the top level of other left parties including CPI(ML) and CPI (M).
At present, all Left parties who were strong constituents of Grand Alliance, were extending outside support to the Nitish-led Grand Alliance government, he added.
CPI leader said that the national convention of his party would be held in Vijaywada from October 14 to 18. A final decision on joining the Nitish cabinet was expected to be taken during the national convention of the party, he noted. Talks with other Left parties would also be held on the issue for a common stand to be taken in this connection by all other Left parties, he stated.
Pandey said that he was very much hopeful of evolving a common stand of all Left parties in favour of joining Nitish cabinet.
The Grand Alliance government was working hard to fulfil the dreams and aspirations of all sections of the society including the poor, farmers, youths and women, he added.
CPI leader demanded providing 20 lakhs jobs and employment to youths as announced by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during his address on Independence day this year. He also sought enough assistance from the government for farmers reeling under drought-like situations in Bihar.
Pandey said that Bihar was facing devastation from floods every year. The central government should talk to the Nepal government for finding a permanent solution to this challenge as most rivers had origins in Nepal, causing floods in North Bihar almost every year, he pointed out.
