Centre for Advocacy & Research celebrates National Nutrition Month – “Feeding smart right from start”

Amid pandemic when major population are struggling both physically and mentally; it has become crucial to spread awareness on adequate nutrition.

A well-known quote of Swami Vivekanada says –

The one who actually succeeds in making himself believe that he is having a good time is the man of splendid physical health.

Health involves not only physical but mental, emotional and social health. Human body can’t function properly without a proper diet and literally can’t be productive in all aspects of life.

Keeping this in view, Centre for Advocacy & Research on 7th September celebrated National Nutrition Month –September 2021 with the theme “Feeding smart right from start” in collaboration with National Health Mission (H&FWD), Integrated child Development schemes (Urban –III),(W&CD) Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Right ,(OSCPCR)Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) at Niladri vihar Primary School (model ward 14 ).

Embracing the special event, Chief guest Miss. Sandyabati Pradhan Chairperson OSCPCR , Guest of Honor Mrs Rashimita Public health Manager and Guest Supervisor Minakhishi Pattnayak shared their valuable words. In addition, 10 AWWs workers & Helpers of ICDS, ANM, 4 ASHA along with more than 100 community women leaders, Help-desks members ,Janch and Mother committee members , ADGs, children MASs & WKs members , Community management committee members , Pregnant and lactating women commemorated the occasion.

This program was inaugurated by the chairperson of OSCPCR and other dignitaries.

Beginning with an enchanting welcome song by ADG members, beneficiaries of AWWs participated in a questionnaire session regarding nutrition and were felicitated my the keynote speakers.

Appreciating the efforts of CFAR in organizing a nice program focusing on the theme, Chairperson of OSCPCR mentioned that OSCPCR is planning to conduct this event at state level collaborating with multiple department. She welcomed CFAR, Help-desks and AWWs to join the state level meeting of ward 14 .

“Breastfeeding helps to prevent malnutrition and helps to bring people and nations out of the hunger and poverty cycle. Breastfeeding helps mothers to space children and increases their health and well-being by reducing the risk of ovarian cancer and breast cancer”, she added

Other guests also shed light on food and nutrition which is necessary for community people. They also emphasized on importance of nutritional food to run a healthy life. They elaborated on practicing a healthy diet, eating right foods, engaging in regular physical activities in order to avoid overweight, obesity and non- communicable diseases. They gave the fitness mantra of Grow, glow, go to present the vitality of proper nutrition.

The event was concluded with tree plantation along with the demonstration of a variety of nutritional food by beneficiaries under AWW

The Commission of OSCPCR gave warm thanks to HDs of Single window, CFAR to arrange this program systematically and successfully.
