Anand Sharma Faction Seeks Shimla Tickets
Shimla, Aug 31: Former Congress Himachal Pradesh President Kuldeep Singh Rathore and colleague Anand Kaushal, who support rebel Congress leader Anand Sharma, on Wednesday staked claims for nomination in Shimla Urban and Shimla Rural assembly constituencies respectively.
Both Rathore and Kaushal have been associated with the Congress for a long time and both are close associates of former Union Minister Anand Sharma.
Rathore was recently replaced as PCC chief by Mandi Lok Sabha member Pratibha Singh as the Congress chief in the hill state.
The Congress has decided that it will allow only pitch one member of a family to end dynastic politics. Pratibha Singh’s son Vikramaditya Singh is the Congress MLA from Rural Shimla.
Rathore earlier said he will contest from Theog. But Pratibha Singh offered the party ticket to BJP rebel Indu Verma, widow of BJP leader Rakesh Verma, in Theog.
Naresh Chauhan, the state Congress spokesperson, Shimla Urban party President Jitender Chaudhary and Harish Janarth also aspire for party ticket from Shimla Urban. Chaudhary is also considered close to Anand Sharma.
