Stalemate in Odisha Assembly for third day, House adjourned till 16:00 hours
Bhubaneswar : The stalemate in the Odisha Assembly continued for the third consecutive day today as the house was adjourned till 1600 hours without transacting any business.
Speaker S N Patro adjourned the house within seconds after it was assembled at 1030hrs to 1600hrs after Congress Legislature Party leader Narasingha Mishra raised the multi-crore scam in the office of the Odisha Staff Selection Commission.
He alleged that the involvement of the third floor in the scam could not be ruled out.
Earlier, on September one and two, the house witnessed uproarious scenes and failed to take up much business due to protests by the BJP and the Congress members on two separate issues.
The Congress members stalled the business on their demand to declare drought in the state and a debate on drought situation suspending all other business of the house.
On the other hand, the BJP members disrupted the proceedings of the house demanding the arrest of Panchayati raj and Law Minister Pratap Jena for his alleged involvement in the Mahanga double murder case.
While on the opening day of the monsoon session, the question hour was washed out, on the second day on Thursday, excepting the passing of three bills no other businesses could be taken up due to protest by the opposition BJP and Congress.
The debate on the adjournment motion on the law and Order situation in the state, notice for which was given by the BJP and accepted by the Speaker for discussion, could not be taken up due to the adjournment of the house till 16:00 hours today.
