UP govt learnt no lessons from Covid: Priyanka Gandhi on mystery viral fever
New Delhi : Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi on Friday expressed concern over a mystery viral fever that has spread in Uttar Pradesh and slammed the state government for not learning any lessons from the disastrous second wave of Covid-19.
“The news of over 100 lives being lost to a viral fever in UP needs immediate attention.
Has the UP government not learnt any lessons from the horrific consequences of its disastrous Covid management in the 2nd wave?” Priyanka Gandhi said in a tweet.
“All possible resources should be directed towards providing healthcare to the affected and taking adequate precautions to prevent the disease from spreading,” she said.
For more than a week now, children in some districts in Western Uttar Pradesh have been waking up with a high fever and drenched in sweat.
Many of them complained of joint pains, headaches, dehydration and nausea. In some cases, they reported rashes spreading across legs and arms.
Health Ministry sources suggest that samples from Mathura have shown Dengue having 70 per cent of prevalence and remaining with scrub typhus, he added.
The cases and deaths have been reported from Western UP’s Agra, Mathura, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etah and Kasganj.
An expert team comprising officials from National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) has been rushed to Firozabad to assess the mystery viral fever.
