Agartala, Aug 14 : Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Saturday after holding a Tiranga rally with the indigenous people residing around Dumboor lake, the main source of the state’s sole hydro-power generation said that the state government would soon invite private helicopters to start their services in the Narkel Kunja – an island of Dumboor to boost tourism.
“Dumboor reservoir is no less than Dal Lake in Kashmir and there are so many attractive tourist spots which one can’t believe without seeing it. We have only road connectivity with Dumboor but it takes a few hours. So, we planned to start chopper service at an affordable cost to ferry the tourists,” Dr Saha said.
The Chief Minister participated in the Har Ghar Tiranga rally on the water with the national flag in a beautiful procession of 70 motorized boats at Dumboor reservoir, which has as many as 48 small islands around the vicinity of Narkel Kunja.
Dr Saha said the state government decorated all islands highlighting the art and culture of the state and the ambience of the lake is unique and the water quality is far better than Dal Lake. But unfortunately, its beauty was not tapped for various reasons in the last 50 years.
