68th National Film Awards: Suriya & Ajay Devgn Wins Best Actor

New Delhi, July 22: The 68th National Film Awards were announced on physical mode this year on Friday afternoon at the National Media Centre here, with the honours for films from the year of 2021. Senior Film Journalist and Film Analyst Surya Deo has brought pride for Odisha for his Book On Cinema Category (special Mention)- ‘Kali Paine Kalira Cinema’.

This year’s Best Actress and Actor in Feature Film category has been awarded to Aparrna Balamurali and Suriya, respectively for the block-buster Tamil movie ‘Soorarai Pottru’ along with to Ajay Devgn for the Hindi film ‘Tanhaji:The Unsung Warrior’.

For Best Screenplay the Soorarai Pottru (Tamil) Screenplay writer (original) Shalini Usha Nair & Sudha Kongara Mandela and Dialogue Writer- Madonne Ashwin won the award.

Avijatrik (The Wanderlust of Apu) (Bengali) film’s Cameraman, Supratim Bhol has got the award for Best Cinematography.

AK Ayyappanum Koshiyum (Malayalam) Singer Nanchamma has won the Best Female Playback Singer and the Male Singer award goes to Marathi movie- Mi Vasantrao (I Am Vasantrao)’s Rahul Deshpande.

Best Child Artist award won by Anish Mangesh Gosavi for Marathi Film Tak-Tak and Child Artist, Akanksha Pingle & Divyesh Indulkar for Marathi Film- Sumi.

Best Supporting Actress and Actor award conferred to Tamil Film Actress Lakshmi Priya Chandramouli for the film- Sivaranjaniyum Innum Sila Pengallum; and Supporting Actor Biju Menon for Malayalam movie- AK Ayyappanum Koshiyum.

This year, 305 feature films were received as entries in 30 languages; and 148 non-feature films in 20 languages were received from all over the country.

The event is organised by the Directorate of Film Festivals, which comes under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
