Colombo, July 9: Sri Lanka’s former cricketer Kumar Sangakkara on Saturday backed the protesters for demanding resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, saying ”this is for our future”.
The cricketer took to Twitter and shared a short video showing the protesters at the President’s house and waving Sri Lankan flags. He captioned the video, ”this is for our future”.
Earlier, former Sri Lankan cricket team captian Sanath Jayasuriya hailed the mass protests against President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, saying he has never seen the ”country united like this”.
Jayasuriya also shared some pictures on his Twitter showing him among the protesters holding national flags and said: ”I always stand with the people of Sri Lanka.”
He added: ”In my entire life I have never seen the country united like this with one goal to throw out a failed leader.”
