Geneva, July 4: European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen will lead a group of eight commissioners to New York on Thursday and Friday for talks with UN head Antonio Guterres about Ukraine and food security, the commission’s deputy chief spokesperson Dana Spinant said Monday.
“They will travel to New York to meet UN secretary general and the deputy secretary general and other senior UN representatives in order to discuss matters of joint interest,” she told reporters.
“These would range from a number of issues, starting with the current situation in Ukraine and the need to provide relief help, on food security, on the situation in Ukraine and consequences of it and ways to deal with it jointly at the EU and the UN level,” she said further.
The meetings will take place in the UN retreat in Long Island.
