Hyderabad, June 21 : All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi to cancel the Agnipath scheme for short-term contractual recruitment into the armed forces.
Taking to micro-blogging site platform twitter, Owaisi, the Hyderabad Lok Sabha MP, said that National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval agrees that the short term contractual soldiers are poorly trained and will not be in the same class as those recruited as regular soldiers till now.
And if only 25 per cent are taken as regulars, won’t the bulk of our army be made of contracted soldiers, he said.
In an interview with a national news agency at Delhi, NSA said there is no question about the rollback of the Agnipath scheme and violence will not be tolerated in the country.
The NSA should acknowledge that this contractual recruitment scheme does away with our traditional army structures; Owaisi said how does having poorly trained soldiers for short periods on contract help the army to be better prepared for modern wars? The idea should be that modern technology needs better soldiers and not do the reverse.
After the military officers, NSA has been pulled out to defend the indefensible scheme of short term contractual recruitment of soldiers. 56 inch does not have the courage to won his own decisions and hide behind others, the AIMIM Chief said.
When the decision is wrong, it should be reversed. The youth are the future of the country and @PMOIndia should have the good sense to listen to them, Cancel this scheme for short term contractual recruitment now, he demanded.
What does NSA mean by not tolerate? Chinese forces continue to be in control of our territory in Ladakh; those then ingress into 2020 and we are unable to reserve that. Hundreds of square kilometers of the area are now not being patrolled by our soldiers for over 25 months, Owaisi said.
Our PM is scared to take China’s name in public. My questions in Parliament about Ladakh are denied. No discussion has taken place. NSA’s rhetoric has little value when the Chinese are not vacating the areas they came into, the Lok Sabha MP said.
Our @DrSJaishankar says the ties with China can’t be normal till the border crisis is not resolved. Then goes and attends a BRICS meeting to listen to Xi Jinping. NSA also attends a meeting with China. The PM himself will attend the BRICS summit, chaired by Xi, this week. Is this normalcy/ Not?, he questioned.
Owaisi said Indian economy and diplomacy has been weakened in the last eight years and reduced to event management and photo ops and added now the PR led destruction project is being taken to the military. Is that how we will counter China?
NSA saheb what about the 1000 Sq km transgression (capture of Indian territory) in Depsang Plains ? please enlighten the Nation, he asked the NSA.
