Lucknow : After changing the names of Allahabad to Prayagraj and Faizabad to Ayodhya, now process has commenced to change the names of Aligarh, Mainpuri and Firozabad districts too.
Resolutions to change the names of the districts has been passed in the meetings of Aligarh, Mainpuri and Firozabad district panchayats. After the resolution of renaming Firozabad to Chandranagar approved, the proposal to rename Mainpuri as Mayan city and Aligarh to Harigarh was placed in the meeting of the District Panchayat Board on Monday.
The Houses passed the motion by voice vote. Now the proposals will be sent to the government level. After this, there is a provision to take further action from there itself.
The meeting of District Panchayat in Mainpuri was held under the chairmanship of President Archana Bhadauria in the Collectorate Auditorium. Member Yogendra Pratap moved a proposal to name Mainpuri as Mayan city. It was accepted after discussion. Archana Bhadauria said that now it will be sent to the government.
In the first meeting of the District Panchayat Board in Aligarh, Bijauli block chief Umesh Yadav and Atrauli block chief Kehri Singh proposed that earlier the name of the district was Harigarh. In such a situation, a proposal to rename Aligarh as Harigarh should be passed by this House and sent to the government.
District Panchayat President Vijay Singh said that the Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha has also given a memorandum to name Harigarh.
According to Aligarh District Panchayat President Vijay Singh, a proposal to make Aligarh Harigarh came in the board meeting, which has been unanimously accepted. Due to serious illness, Kalyan Singh, admitted to Sanjay Gandhi PGI, Lucknow, had started the exercise of renaming Aligarh in 1992 while being the Chief Minister, but it could not happen then.
In the meeting of Aligarh District Panchayat Board, it has also been agreed to name Dhanipur Mini Airport after former Chief Minister of the state, Kalyan Singh.
Earlier, The Ferozavad disrict panchayat had passed a resolution this month of renaming Firozabad to Chandranagar.
