Anupam Kher performs ritual in Kashi for Kashmiri Pandits
Rampur (UP), July 15 : Film actor Anupam Kher on Wednesday performed a special puja at Pishach Mochan Kund at Chetganj here for the peace of the souls of Kashmiri Pandits who were killed by the terrorists in Kashmir valley.
‘The Kashmir Files’ actor performed Tripindi Shraddha, a ritual performed after the death of a person, amidst chanting on Vedic mantra by Brahmins.
Speaking on the occasion, Kher said. “Its an important day for the Kashmiri Pandit, who were killed in genocide in Kashmir. After 32 years a ritual has been performed praying for the salvation of those unsatisfied souls. It was during the shooting of the film ‘The Kashmir Files’ that I had decided that I will perform rituals in Kashi for the peace of those souls,” he said.
He said that the atmosphere for Hindus living in Kashmir has become better as compared to past decades. He said that at present time an atmosphere of fear is being spread because of targeted killings of Hindus. People are trying to migrate to different places but this is not the solution, we have to boost up the morale of Hindus living in the valley.
The actor said that the media too needs to show on TV channels and publish articles on the atrocities people are facing there. Social media too plays an important role. Such issues must be raised and highlighted internationally,” he said.
He said in the past the media was silent and now they too had to play a role so that people may not leave Kashmir and such issues must also come on international platforms.
