Purnia, June 11 : At least eight people drowned when a vehicle carrying them fell into a roadside pond under Angadh police station area here late Friday night.
Police said here on Saturday that some people of Nunia village under Mahingaon Panchayat of Kishanganj district had gone to Chankitarawadi village under Basa block of Purnia district to solemnise tilak ceremony of their daughter.
The accident took place when they were returning after solemnising the function. Two people somehow are the other managed to come out of the vehicle breaking the glasses whereas 8 others were drown in the pond.
The deceased have been identified as Ganga Prasad Yadav, Tandav Lal Yadav, Karan Lal Yadav, Amarchand Yadav, Kalicharan Yadav, Ramkishan Yadav, Gulab Chand Yadav and Manik Lal .
The bodies have been sent to Kishanganj for postmortem.
