Mundka Fire: DNA Report Of Victims To Arrive Friday
New Delhi, May 25: The DNA matching report for 26 victims killed in the Mundka inferno is expected to arrive this week on Friday.
The report has been delayed by a few days since it was expected to come on Tuesday. Senior officials said it is a procedural delay.
“The report was scheduled to arrive early this week but has been postponed due to procedural delays. However, we are certain that it will be produced by Friday,” SK Chopra, Medical Superintendent, Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, said.
However, the senior doctor also informed that the FSL team couldn’t initiate the DNA profiling of the 27th victim.
“No one has come so far to claim the 27th victim who was a woman. Her DNA profiling was not initiated,” Chopra informed.
As many as 27 people were found dead and 17 were left injured in a three-storey commercial building near Mundka metro station which was engulfed in a massive fire on May 13.
The fire had broken out at a CCTV assembling unit inside the building.
The bodies were charred to an extent that it became difficult for the family members to identify their relatives. The administration initiated DNA profiling of deceased and families to help in the identification process.
The forensic experts have taken blood samples of the relatives which will be matched with a molar tooth and a femur bone (found in thighs) of the deceased for the DNA identification.
