Thunderstorm Warning For Several Districts Of Odisha
Bhubaneswar, May 22: The Regional Meteorological Centre here forecasted thunderstorm in several districts of the state due to a cyclonic circulation over coastal Odisha and neighbourhood.
Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Malkangiri and Koraput today, the Meteorological Centre predicted.
Similarly, thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara Dhenkanal and Keonjhar tomorrow, it said.
As per reports 4 persons were reportedly killed while two others suffered injuries in lightning at separate places across the state during the last 24 hours.
Reportedly, a person died while two others were injured after lightning stuck them at Pansadiha in Anandpur of Kendujhar district early this morning. Besides, two critically injured were admitted to a hospital in Thakurmunda.
In a separate incident, a person was killed in lightning strike near a jetty at Nairi village under Chilika block today.
Earlier yesterday, a 23-year-old youth was killed in lightning strike in Kalosihiria area under Kuanrmunda police outpost in Sundargarh district. The deceased identified as Budhu Kisan had gone to a nearby market for some work. On his way back, he was struck by lightning.
Similarly, a 60-year-old man was charred to death in lightning in Kadapani area of Nuagaon block, when he was returning to his house after collecting vegetables from his farm land. The deceased, Baju Ganju, was a resident of Lukumbeda village in Nuagaon block.
