May 12: The BSE Sensex on Thursday slumped 847.37 points to 53,241.02 in the opening session as selling was seen across the board amid weak global cues.
The Nifty too declined by 254.25 points to 15,912.85. The Sensex registered the days high and low at 53,632.55 and 53,047.75 points respectively. The Nifty registered the days high and low at 16,041.95 and 15,848.10 points respectively.
The Mid cap fell 1.64 per cent and Small Cap by 1.27 per cent. In 30 scrips, 4 advanced while 26 declined. The losers were Tata Steel by 3.95 per cent to Rs 1120.20, IndusInd Bank by 3.47 per cent to Rs 891.20, Ultracemco by 3.35 per cent to Rs 6123.95, M& M by 3 per cent to Rs 860 and Titan by 2.85 per cent to Rs 2054.45.
The gainers were HCL Technology by 0.58 per cent to Rs 1066.30, TCS by 0.41 per cent to Rs 3426.75, Tech Mahindra by 0.30 per cent to Rs 1227.85 and Wipro by 0.14 per cent to Rs 471.85.
