Polling For French Presidential Election Begins
Puducherry, April 10: Amid tight security, polling for the French presidential election began in Puducherry on Sunday morning.
Since, Puducherry being an erstwhile French colony, the French Nationals residing in all the four regions of the union territory ie, Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam are eligible to exercise their franchise to elect the French president.
Two polling booths, one at the French Consulate here and the other at the French school Alliance Francaise were set up and French nationals queued up at the booths with their identity proofs and started casting their votes with enthusiasm.
The polling which began at 8 AM will last till 7 PM. On completion of polling the votes will be counted here tonight and the result forwarded to France.
