Order Value On GeM Crosses Rs 1 Lakh Crore In FY22
New Delhi, March 24: Growing at record pace, government e-marketplace (GeM) has clocked order value of over Rs 1 lakh crore in financial year 2021-22 with 57 per cent of order value coming from MSME sector. Annual procurement on the GeM portal in financial year 2020-21 had stood at Rs 38,580 crore.
GeM is the national public procurement portal for sourcing of goods and services for central and state government organisations. With government focus remaining on digital procurement and promotion of MSME sector in government procurement, the GeM has onboarded entrepreneurs across the country to showcase and sell their products.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed happiness over the stellar growth in procurement through GeM. “Happy to know that GeM has achieved order value of Rs 1 lakh crore in a single year! This is a significant increase from previous years. The GeM platform is especially empowering MSMEs, with 57% of order value coming from MSME sector,” he wrote on Twitter.
