Railways approve pre-investment activities for Berhampur- Sambalpur new railway line: GM
Bhubaneswar : Railways has approved for undertaking pre-investment activities for Berhampur – Sambalpur new Railway, East Coast Railway(ECoR) General Manager Vidya Bhushan said on Wednesday.
The new railway line will be constructed by Odisha Rail Infrastructure Development Limited (ORIDL), Vidya Bhusan said while addressing media after inspecting Berhampur railway station today.
He said the 79 km long Gunupur-Therubali project has also been sanctioned and the survey report for 223 Kms long Berhampur-Rayagada New Line has been completed and also compiled.
The ECoR General Manager today and took stock of the various passenger amenities and facilities required to be developed as part of the Station Redevelopment plan.
He said the Brahmapur Railway Station will be developed with modern facilities with aesthetic lighting, improved signage, and improved passenger amenities including a waiting hall and amenities for the travelling public.
Apart from this, the Circulating area will also be developed and will be beautified, Vidya Bhusan said.
Replying to a question the General Manager said due to Covid protocols all regular trains have been cancelled and only special trains are running to facilitate passengers on their emergency ground.
The ECoR, he said is in constant touch with the State government adding more trains will run as per the advice of the state government keeping in view the covid situation.
On Berhampur- Phulbani line, the General Manager said the rate of return of the project would be estimated by the survey committee and a decision would be taken on the basis of the report.
