Ukraine Crisis: Karnataka Cong To Set Up Corpus In Naveen’s Name
Bengaluru, March 17: The Karnataka Youth Congress on Thursday announced setting up of a corpus in the name of Naveen Shekharappa Gyanagoudar who died in a Ukraine shelling.
“The ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia has claimed the precious life of a Kannadiga Naveen Shekharappa Gyanagoudar. It also has jeopardised the future of thousands of students pursuing medicine and higher education. In this background, we have decided to set up a corpus in Naveen’s name,” Congress Youth Leader MS Raksha Ramaiah said.
Ramaiah met Naveen’s father Shekharappa Gyanagoudar and his family members and paid his condolences. The dream of scores of students becoming doctors has been shattered due to discontinuance of their studies due to the Russia-Ukraine war and Naveen’s death is unbearable, Ramaiah said.
“Constructive programs and activities will be carried out in his name,” he said. The state government is in constant touch with the Ministry of External Affairs to bring back Naveen’s body which has been embalmed and kept in a mortuary at Kyiv.
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai also assured to bring back the body, once the war subsides. He also had visited Naveen’s house in Chalageri village and condoled with the family members. The government has already handed over a cheque of Rs 25 lakh to Naveen’s father and assured a suitable job to his elder son.
