Moldovans March For Ukrainian Women On Women’s Day
Chișinău, March 8: Moldova citizens on Tuesday took to streets to celebrate Ukrainian women on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
According to CNN, small groups of people marched in Chișinău to show solidarity with the women of Ukraine, who have been forced to flee their homes while men aged 18-60 are mandated to remain to fight the Russian invasion.
“Women of Ukraine you are heroes,” read one of the placards.
On Monday, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita called for additional international aid as the number of Ukrainan refugees continue to increase. In an exclusive interview with CNN, the PM said, “We are seeing an extraordinary humanitarian crisis. Already 230,000 people have crossed the Moldovan border from Ukraine, and about 120,000 have chosen to stay. 96,000 are Ukrainian citizens. “Every eighth child in Moldova is now a refugee”, she said, adding that the figure makes up 4 per cent of the country’s entire population of 2.6 million. “After just 10 days of war, we are at capacity. I think the flow of refugees is higher and faster than even predictions indicated,” she added.
