Los Angeles, Mar 6: With the Matt Reeves directorial neo noir action film ‘The Batman’ hitting the theatres, the movie has already scored highly positive reviews, and since the release of ‘Spiderman: No Way Home’, ‘The Batman’ could be the turn-around that is needed for movie theatres to regain their status. Ever since the pandemic significantly disrupted movie-going resulting in a massive drop in attendance in cinemas, the Warner Bros’ reboot of the classic DC superhero is particularly special for filmgoers as it is the studio’s first theatrical exclusive since Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet”in 2020.
As of now the movie has already grossed over $57 million, including $21 from its Thursday preview screenings, with an overall ambitious target of collecting over $125 million by the weekend with the current metrics indicating that it is extremely likely.
If this were to happen, ‘The Batman’ would become the second behind ‘Spider Man: No Way Home’ to have a weekend gross of over $100 million. “The Batman” will arrive on HBO Max 45 days after debuting in theaters. “This is clearly an important film for the industry at large, but also for the studio, [which] is now turning its attention to the ‘theatrical first’ release model for its films moving forward,” Paul Dergarabedian, a senior media analyst with Comscore, says of Warner Bros. “With ‘Fantastic Beasts:
The Secrets of Dumbledore’ due in April, ‘The Batman’ will set the stage for success for Warner Bros. for the rest of 2022 and beyond in theatres.” Whatever the case be, as of March,“The Batman” is undoubtedly the WB’s biggest success this year so far, not just commercially, but also critically garnering 10/10 on IGN, 8.8 on IMDB, 86% on Rotten Tomatoes and“A-”on CinemaScore.
