Sidharthnagar, March 1 : Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday fiercely targeted the BJP, SP and BSP in public meetings here, alleging that these political parties were indulging in caste and religious politics. In the public meetings organised at Etawah and Shohratgarh Assembly segments on Tuesday, she charged that these parties have no motive to develop the state. After public meetings, she did door to door public relations in Farenda, Maharajganj and Basti and appealed to Congress candidates to form the government in Uttar Pradesh by voting for Congress candidates.
Addressing the people, the Congress General Secretary said that at the time of elections, leaders of all political parties come and give speeches in front of you. When elections come, the leaders of SP, BSP and BJP talk about religion and politics and their politics are based on caste and religion. “In the name of religion and caste, these people win elections, but work is not done in your area. Have you ever wondered why your area is not developing? This trend has been going on that after winning the election, no one builds a school, neither builds roads, nor does electricity come. There are no industries in your area and they do not speak against atrocities on women, while do not talk about women’s empowerment,” Ms Vadra said. She said many decades have passed since SP, BSP, BJP all formed the government but they did nothing for the people.
“Our ancestors fought for freedom, no one asked their religion. Farmers, poor, youth and women fought shoulder to shoulder for freedom and drove the British out of the country. The forefathers gave a Constitution. “Your ancestors did not get freedom so that your children remain unemployed. But fought for freedom so that you become strong, self-reliant, your children stand on their own feet. Pandit Nehru built big institutes like BHEL, HAL, IIT, NTPC in this country so that you can get employment. It enabled the youth of the country to stand on their feet. At that time there were leaders who worked for your development. But gradually the whole politics rested on religion and caste. Its terrible consequences have come to the fore”.
The Congress General Secretary said the policies of BJP government were breaking the backbone of people. She said, “They used to say that black money will come back, they are cheating in the name of nationalism. No work has been done in your interest, your pocket has definitely become empty due to inflation. All the businesses that provide employment are on the verge of closure. “By giving a gas cylinder free to women, they think that their responsibility is over. For five years, 12 lakh government posts are lying vacant in the state because they know that no one is going to ask. All the youth are unemployed, posts are vacant, but employment has not been given. They sold the employment by giving institutions to their rich industrialist friends.
“Brought black laws for farmers. Today in the state, the farmers are not getting proper price for their produce, not getting manure, electricity is not coming, only bill is coming. The farmers are not getting income, how will they be able to get employment? Demonetisation and GST have broken the back of small shopkeepers and businessmen,” she alleged.
