US, Allies Use Double Standards By Criticizing Russia: Lavrov
Moscow, March 1: The United States and its allies once again demonstrate double standards by criticizing the Russian operation in Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday.
“The United States and its allies, directly responsible for numerous violations of human rights and international humanitarian law, guilty of crimes that killed hundreds of thousands of ordinary people in Yugoslavia, Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, once again demonstrate double standards,” Lavrov said at the 49th session of the UN Human Rights Council.
The minister recalled that the EU had recently decided to supply lethal weapons to Kyiv, guided by anti-Russian sentiments.
“For us, the life of every Russian or Ukrainian, Donetsk or Luhansk resident is no less valuable than the life of a European or American”, he added.
The example of Ukraine clearly shows what the so-called rules-based world order of the United States and its allies means for human rights, he noted.
