Odisha: Additional SP Held After Vigilance Raid
Bhubaneswar, Feb 16: Additional Superintendent of Police (Communication) Trinath Mishra was arrested by the vigilance department on Wednesday in Cuttack district after the unearthing of huge assets during raids. A case has been registered against Mishra and his spouse u/s 13(2) r/w 13 (1)(b) 12 PC Act 1988 as Amended by Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act 2018.
Vigilance sources said Mishra would be forwarded to the court of Special Judge Vigilance Cuttack On the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income, simultaneous house searches were launched on Mishra’s properties at 11 places in Cuttack, Khordha, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur and Nabarangpur districts on February 15. The house searches were made at various locations in the state. Searches were also made at the house of his driver at Daleighai, under Biridi Police station in Jagatsinghpur, drug Unit of his unmarried sons at Mahanadi Vihar, Cuttack. the Government quarter at Madhupatna Police station campus, Cuttack. and at the office of S.P. Signal, Tulasipur, Cuttack. Eleven Odisha Vigilance teams led by 3 Additional SPs, 10 DSPs, 13 Inspectors and staff conducted the search operation.
Vigilance sources said during house searches so far, one flat at Manorama Estate, Rasulgarh, Bhubaneswar, a double-storied building at Dabugaon, in Nabarangpur, One farmhouse at Badachana, Jajpur, and four plots at Bhubaneswar and Jajpur were found Bank deposits over Rs.43.32 lakh, Insurance deposits over Rs.44.04 lakh, gold ornaments worth over Rs.16.85 lakh., Rs 5,27,710 in cash, a BMW X7 car worth Rs.1.20 Crore, a Hyundai Creta car worth Rs.17 lakh, a Maruti Baleno car worth Rs.13 lakh, A Triumph Rocket 3 R motorcycle worth Rs.20 lakh, a Hyosung bike worth Rs 5.3 lakh, a Royal Enfield Classic 500 ABS bike worth Rs.2.50 lakh, a Yamaha motorcycle worth Rs. 2 lakh, a Swiss scooter worth Rs.70 thousand, an E-scooter valued Rs.64,905 and Household articles worth Rs.55 lakh and other movable and immovable properties were also detected. Mishra is suspected to have invested ill-gotten money in business in the name of his family members, which is being probed.
It included Shantilata Care (Nursing Home) at Chandikhol, Jajpur. a triple storeyed building worth over Rs.1.76 Crore and Shanti Drug House; Both are licensed in the name of his wife. Valuation of high-end medical instruments at Shantilata Care are being done with the help of technical and medical experts. Preliminary assessment of Medical instruments, assets and drugs seized during the search of Shantilata Care is worth Rs.77 lakh. Further, Pharmaceutical Unit (M/s Taurus Pharmex) at Mahanadi Vihar, Cuttack in the name of his unmarried son has been unearthed. The medicine stock value of (M/s Taurus Pharmex) is worth over Rs.14.10 lakh as per the preliminary estimate. The finance and Technical Wing of Odisha Vigilance are doing the assessments. It is suspected that Mishra has created the benami assets in the name of his relatives which is under verification, vigilance sources said.
