Manipur CM Biren Starts Election Campaign, Assures A Dignified Life
Imphal, Feb 14: Manipur Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh started his election campaign at Heingang Assembly constituency, Imphal East on Monday along with Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju, RK Ranjan, Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sharma and other BJP leaders.
Biren unfurled the BJP flag at his residence and officially started the campaign in the constituency. Biren said living with dignity is important and his struggle during his stint as Chief Minister was to ensure a life free from violence.
He said he constructed over 100 houses for the homeless in his constituency and started health schemes for the people of the state. Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister Law said he visited Manipur over 30 times during the last 25 years and Manipur is one of the most blessed states in the country. He said God has bestowed everything to Manipur, wonderful cultural traditions, natural beauty, talented people but it never had a good government.
He alleged that Congress played divide and rule policy but Biren Singh resolved all problems faced by the people. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma said if the people of Manipur want to see the progress and development made during the last five years they should vote for BJP.
He said he has been associated with Manipur for a long time and during the election campaign in the last Assembly elections the state was facing blockades and bandhs.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his election campaign had assured to end an ongoing economic blockade in Manipur within 72 hours if the BJP formed a government. The PM’s assurance was translated into action by Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Himanta said. BJP did not command absolute majority after the 2017 Elections but N Biren Singh managed to form a government and transformed BJP into a big institute, Himanta said. Biren also worked hard to implement Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Manipur, he added.
Himanta further said Manipur got connectivity, Railways, roads, bridges under the leadership of N Biren. He appealed to the people to vote for BJP and get an absolute majority in the ensuing elections.
RK Ranjan, Union Minister, Education, said Biren led government has ended the era of fake encounters. Sambit Patra, the Election in charge of Manipur said Biren is the leader of the warriors who are facing elections in Manipur. The BJP also started campaigns officially for Speaker, Y Khemchand and many other candidates on Monday.
Manipur will go to the polls on Feb 28 and Mar 5 next.
