PM Modi Appeals People To Vote To Strengthen Democracy
New Delhi Feb 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday appealed to the electorates of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Goa to vote in large numbers for strengthening the” festival of democracy”.
Taking to twitter the Prime Minister said, “Polling will be held across Uttarakhand, Goa and in parts of Uttar Pradesh. I call upon all those whose are eligible to vote today to do so in record numbers and strengthen the festival of democracy”.
Voting is currently underway in Uttarakhand and Goa, where elections are being held in a single phase. According to the Election Commission all the necessary facilities and security arrangements have been made to ensure free and fair polling during this phase. In view of the pandemic, the Election Commission has decided to extend the poll timing by one hour in all Assembly Constituencies.
Union Home Minister Amit shah also appealed to the voters, especially young voters of the three states to vote for the “bright future of the sates” “I appeal to all the voters of the second phase in Uttar Pradesh, especially the youth and mothers, to vote in maximum numbers. Your one vote will decide the bright and secure future of the state. So go out vote yourself and inspire others to vote as well” he tweeted.
To the Uttarakhand voters, he said only corruption free government can take forward the development, pride and honor of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. “Therefore, I appeal to all the voters of Uttarakhand that by voting, you should become a partner in the development and progress of the state. Vote first, then refreshments” he added BJP president JP Nadda also asked the voters to take part in the election and said your every vote is very important for the development of the state.
“Today, in the second phase of voting in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, all voters are urged to participate in the festival of democracy in maximum numbers. Your every vote is very important to build a better tomorrow and speed up the development of the state along with your bright future.” Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal also appealed the voters of Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Goa to vote in large numbers and said “your vote is your biggest strength”
“Today is the day to vote in Uttarakhand. The future of every child of Devbhoomi is associated with your every vote. Your vote is your biggest strength. To build a better Uttarakhand, all my Uttarakhandi brothers and sisters, elders and all youth must go to vote,” he tweeted. In Uttar Pradesh, there are a total of 2.02 crore eligible voters in this phase. In all, 23,404 polling stations have been set up in the concerned constituencies. 586 candidates are in fray for 55 assembly seats spread over 9 districts of the state. In Uttarakhand, polling in one-phase for all 70 Assembly seats began at 8 AM this morning. A total of 632 candidates are in the fray in the state.
Meanwhile in Goa the BJP for the first time is contesting all 40 assembly seats, while Congress and Goa Forward Block (GFP) have allied to contest all the seats. TMC and Maharastrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) are contesting 39 seats. Similarily AAP is also contesting 39 seats. While NCP and Shiv Sena are together fighting in 23 seats. The newly formed Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) has fielded candidates in 38 constituencies.
