Puri, Jan 27 : The Puri district administration on Thursday lifted the restriction on cremation of non covid bodies coming from outside the district in Swargadwar In a release District Collector Samarth Verma on Thursday lifted the ban and said cremation of bodies outside the district will be allowed with only ten accompanying persons for cremation at Swargadwar cremation site with adherence to Covid appropriate norms The Puri district administration has imposed restrictions in the first week of January on cremation at Swargadwar burning ghat in the wake of sharp rise in new corona positive cases .
Puri sub collector Bhabataran Sahu had earlier stated that since a number of staff of Swargdwar have been infected with coronavirus, the administration has decided not to allow bodies coming from outside the district for cremation at Swargadwar crematorium from January 10 last. Only non covid bodies from the district were allowed to be cremated in the Swargadwar
