Could Mamata Banerjee Be The Lynchpin For Opposition Unity?
Currently, the entire country is busy with the assembly elections in five states. In this case, the political parties have been working together day and night to gain power. However, in the run-up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the fight is being considered as a semi-final. Meanwhile, who will be contesting against BJP’s Popular leader and the now Prime Minister Narendra Modi is thoughtful and amid all the constant name which emerged time and again is West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. She is at the forefront of Modi’s opposition.
According to a recent survey, 17 percent of population cheer for Mamata and want her to lead the opposition. In the race, 16 per cent favor the Delhi Chief Minister and 11 per cent gave a nod for the Congress’s Rahul Gandhi. In that case, only Mamata’s continual effort to bind all opposition parties would act as a catalyst for Modi’s defeat in the upcoming election.
And subsequently the question arises whether Mamata can succeed in this endeavor. Earlier, Mamata Banerjee had met Congress President Sonia Gandhi and failed to do so.
Apparently, the Congress will never accept Mamata as its chief and the ruling BJP will benefit if the opposition parties engage in such quarrels with each other. Today, although the Congress is in a weak position, the party is still having a hold over all. But Didi’s TMC has just opened a handful of counties in several states. It remains to be seen how far Didi has succeeded in uniting the opposition and preventing Modi in this limited time.
