Chennai, Jan 16: A fine of Rs. 3.45 crores has been collected from those who had violated the night curfew and Sunday lockdown regulations during the last one week in Tamil Nadu.
A release from the Office of the Director General of Police here today said from January 7 till Saturday, Rs 3.45 crore was collected as fine from the violators.
It said a total of 254 cases were filed and 96 people were arrested during the period. A total of 1,64,329 people were fined for not wearing face masks, 1,910 for not maintaining social distancing and 1,552 for assembling in public places without valid reasons.
Of this, Rs. 86 lakh fine was collected from 43,417 people in Chennai city for not wearing masks and for violating the lockdown guidelines, while Rs. 83 lakh fine was imposed on 40,148 people in North Zone.
