Pargat Slams Kejriwal’s Political Stunt, Alleges Dirty Politics
Chandigarh, Jan 15 : Punjab Education Minister Pargat has termed the number one position of the states education sector as resounding answer to all the critics as well as those who are playing dirty politics in the name of improving school education.
Addressing an online press conference with mediapersons on Saturday, Pargat said Punjab has been ranked number one in the entire nation and this is a testimony to the spirit in which the Punjab government works, more work and less noise.
He said the education sector has been a shining example of good governance and in the coming months he will strive to bring the standards to higher levels. He also informed that he has finalised scheme with South African trainers who will teach and train the students and teachers in Punjab, bringing high quality training and teaching in physical education sector at the ground level.
The Minister said about 31,000 teacher are being recruited which will result in dispelling the problem of inadequate staff strength. About 19 new ITI along with 273 smart schools have been set up. The new government scheme called “Padho Punjab, Padhao Punjab” will cover 259 government secondary schools in phase one and 621 senior secondary schools will be in phase two, he said.
He said research centers will be established for Ramayana, Mahabharata and Bhagwat Geeta and other great works by the government.
Pargat said till now about 15,000 sports kits have been distributed to students in an effort to boost and encourage sporting activity at the grassroot level in the state.
He said that Punjab is the land blessed by Shri Guru Nanak Dev and the tradition for good education for all has been the essence of society for the last 500 years. That’s why when Delhi CM and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal should not read his filmy script as people of Punjab know how well the Punjab government has worked.
The Minister said the Punjab government has actually got the electricity bill rates reduced and this benefit reach the common man, therefore what Kejriwal says or announces, the people of Punjab know who has promised and delivered and who has not. That is why the people of Punjab are with the congress party, he added.
The former Indian hockey team captain said Punjab government has specially worked hard to upgrade school and education infrastructure in the areas next to the international border, bringing good governance right at people’s door step. He made it clear that the Congress government in Punjab has worked with a vision and delivered results in the technical education sector as well.
Replying to journalists question on the political situation in the state, Pargat said Congress government will go to polls on issues like communal harmony and protecting the spirit of democracy. Congress believes in upholding democratic principles as opposed to some parties where dictatorial attitude has become the new normal, he added.
The Minister said it’s time for former CM Capt Amarinder Singh to retire from politics gracefully and accept the present political scenario. He expressed his confidence that in the upcoming polls, Congress party will win 80 seats on its own and form the government again.
On the issue that was raised on various social media platforms regarding international player Ms Malvika Handa, the Minister said he personally felicitated her and ensure the commitment given to her were fullfilled.
